Scavenging...

Yesterday as Bryce and I were driving home from church we noticed that there was a changing table (and some other odds and ends) sitting out in front of one of the apartments across the street. I wanted the changing table! (Free works into our budget nicely!) Today it was still there after the garbage collectors had come by, so I grabbed it and walked the block, or so, back to our apartment.

Here is our fabulous find sitting outside on the patio waiting for some extreme disinfecting. I am going to need to do a little painting as well. The second shelf had some crayon marks on it, but other than that, this thing's a gem!

This picture is for mamas Clark and Tanner who wanted to see The Belly. The good news is that our little boy is growing and getting stronger. The bad news is that this is all happening inside my belly! However, look at the ankles- thankfully there's still no swelling. So, other than a bit of discomfort when he practices his football moves, things are going very well for us.

I finally had a doctor's appointment today and I get to go in tomorrow morning for my glucose test (a routine check to see if I've acquired gestational diabetes). After that I am going to make bread and work on cleaning off that changing table. Hopefully I'll get the shabby parts spray painted so I can bring it inside tomorrow evening.

Bryce and his new study buddy, Nick, are in the living room studying. I would have taken a picture, but the camera just died. I'll get them on their next study date.

Our New Stroller!

This is the point when things turned a little hectic. Some assemby was required. Can we say "way more difficult that you think it should be?!" The good news is that I persevered and conquered. Stu will be delighted to know that the stroller comes equipped with a snack (?) tray and CUPHOLDERS! Yes, this must be an American creation!

I have no idea why these pictures refused to be turned the right way. I've done everything I usually do... irritating!

This is a really fabulous "action shot" taken by Bryce. I thought he was going to have me all the way inside the box, fortunately this is all he got.

Apparently this thing was the back wheel brakes. Who knew?? I am certain you have to have a college degree to put these things together. The pictures were confusing and the only words given as instructions were things like "snap!" Yeah, that's really helpful!

Getting the stroller to open up was a real rodeo. Good heavens, people use these things all of the time, it can't be rocket science!

First Day of School

Bryce's First Day of School!

Here's our happy Bryce eating cereal on his first day of school last Monday. Look at him all dressed up and professional looking. Don't be deceived, in that cereal bowl is some sort of peanut butter and chocolate concoction we found on sale at the grocery store. (I think its some kind of cereal cousin to cocoa puffs).



He's already started learning about "optometry things" Tuesday night after two days of intense labs he was sitting at his desk practicing using his "retinascope" (that may or may not be spelled correctly). He has a case full of several hundred lenses and a fun little contraption that simulates an eyeball. He had me pick lenses to represent a person's (pre-corrective lense) vision and then he used his fancy scope to tell me whether the person was far or near sighted. As if that wasn't enough (mind you this is after the SECOND day of school) he used his special took to peer at lenses over the "eye" to determine the proper "corrective" lense. COOL!

More from last Saturday...

Sun Studios, Memphis, TN

Part of last Saturday's activities was an impromtu stop at Sun Studios. This unassuming little building near Bryce's school is where Elvis, Jonny Cash and many others first recorded. It's not very big inside, but we had fun looking around anyway. We stopped on our way to the baseball game and enjoyed a few minutes of air-conditioned comfort.

I forgot to put these pictures on the last time I was adding apartment pictures to the site. This is a shot of the living room looking at it from the hallway by the front door.

This picture is taken standing in front of our Zubag looking toward the kitchen and the hallway to the bedrooms and the front door. I still haven't gotten the world's heaviest mirror hung up b/c I am nervous about pounding major holes into the wall.
