New Clothes and New Skills

Carter loves his new shirt and shorts from Papa. The shirt says, "My other car is a tractor".

Yesterday while I was on the phone, I was watching Carter staring intently at the hanging toys in his saucer. All of the sudden he reached up and grabbed ahold of one and pulled it down causing it to make music. He seemed quite pleased with himself! I was probably as surprised as he was! This morning when I put him in his saucer he reached right up and grabbed them- like it was no big deal!

Saturday night we took Carter to his first professional basketball game. The Grizzlies were playing the Denver Nuggets. Everything was going along splendidly, until the game actually started and the announcer's speaker was turned up so loud that we couldn't stand being in the arena. We watched most of the first half in the concession area at a table near some TVs. Carter decided that he'd had enough fun and was ready for bed after the first half. So we headed for home.

Our Big Boy Feeds Himself

For several weeks I have been putting Carter in his highchair while I am in the kitchen. Last week I gave him a spoon to play with so that he would be familiar with it when I started feeding him solids. Last Wednesday while we were eating dinner, Carter started to imitate Bryce using a spoon. I figured that was a good a sign as any that he wanted to try some "real" food, so I gave him some rice cereal to try. It hurt his belly, so we've moved on to just feeding him very ripe bananas mixed with milk. He enjoys his banana snack!

Here is our attempt at a family "portrait"! Bryce held the camera and we all squeezed in. This was the last picture we took before Carter decided that he'd had enough picture taking and it was time to dye Easter eggs.

Here I am with a squirmy boy. I wanted him to show off his handsom new Easter vest, but he wasn't interested in holding still.

Nana bought Carter a new beenie, fortunately this week it turned cold enough to actually use it!

Every night while I'm making dinner I put Carter in his high chair and we have "cooking school". I talk to him while I make dinner and give him insider tips. He chews on the cup measure.

Last Sunday b/w Conference sessions both Carter and Bryce were "helping" me make the bed.

Last night while the guys were at Priesthood session, the wives got together to watch the movie Chocolat and eat this amazing chocolate creation.

He Giggles Too!

Before too long I'll be feeding this boy real food, so I've been sitting him in his highchair while I cook to get him used to it. I pretend we're having cooking school and talk to him while I'm cooking. I wonder if his first work will be "mince" or "sautee"! I have a fun book on homemade baby food that I'm excited to use when he's ready. Also, this week I'm going to tackle the project of making yogurt!!! We'll see how it goes!

This bright-eyed boy is now a rollie-poly! He started by rolling from back to front, but now he's all over the place.

A few days ago Carter was playing with this toy. He accidently dropped it on his face and it got stuck over his nose and under his chin. Try as he might, he couldn't get the darn this dislodged. So, as kind and loving parents, we laughed and took a picture before we took it off of him.
