Labor Day and School Starting

On Monday, some friend invited us to go w/ them to a Redbirds' game. It was their last game of the season, so after the game all of the kids got to run the bases. Carter ran all around the bases on his tiny legs. Happy boy!

Bryce and Carter both started school on Tuesday. Bryce has a busy semester of classes and clinic ahead of him, but at least he's done w/ those time-consuming labs.

Carter is going to "school" Tuesdays and Thursdays for a couple of hours. The first day when I went to pick him up I said "hey bud, you ready to go home??" He looked at me, said "ohhhh" and turned around on his bad little heel and found something else to play with. At least he's not pining away the time I'm gone!

Yesterday I went to pick him up and found him running laps around the classroom- just as happy as can be! His teacher said that they had gone to the indoor playroom that day b/c it was too wet outside. When Carter walked in he looked around and said, "Wow". She thought that was just about the cutest thing she'd ever seen! (Naturally we agree!!)

Nauvoo

Bryce finally had a break from school so we decided to pack up and go somewhere. We drove to St. Louis to visit some friends (and catch a Cardinals game) then we drove on to Nauvoo and spent 2 nights there. Because we were there after school starts and just before Labor Day weekend, we had the town to ourselves.

We arrived on Wednesday afternoon, checked in to our hotel and walked down to the visitors' center. They suggested that we attend Rendezvous at Old Nauvoo that night, so we did. The senior missionaries are fun to watch- what a FUN mission! Carter loved the show and desperately wanted to see along at the end.

Thursday morning it was raining, but that didn't stop us from taking a wagon ride around old nauvoo. It was kind of chilly, so we were all content to sit and snuggle together under blankets. The narrator on our ride had all kinds of great stories.

Later on that afternoon the sun came out so Bryce grabbed his clubs for a round of golf on a "beautiful but really hard" golf course on the edge of town. Carter and I trekked back down to the Visitors' Center where we watched the new movie: Joseph Smith, Prophet of the Restoration. Well, I watched it and Carter napped- so we were both happy!

Thursday we braved the rain and visited several of the sites. We stopped by Scovil bakery where Carter ate his gingerbread cookie, and ours!

Thursday night we ventured over to the Nauvoo family fun center. This blurry picture is one of the greatest toys ever made. It is an indoor, two story climbing structure that is completing enclosed to keep kids from falling (or leaping) out. We were the only ones there, so CArter and Bryce had a fabulous time climbing around and sliding on the slides. I even joined them at the end. It was SO fun! They have outdoor things too so, maybe next time we'll go when it's not raining :0)

Tanners in Colorado

I had to take a few pictures from the Mama Clark blog, b/c I wanted our TN friends to see Carter at the farm. I love these pictures, just look how delighted Carter-man is to be riding around in a tractor!

Okay, really, who's happier in this picture?? The Papa or Carter?? Hard to tell!

Carter now points and says "tractor" well, some variation of the word tractor, every time he sees a tractor. He's so pleased w/ himself!

The straw stubble was so tall that Carter didn't want to walk through it, so here he is standing on a straw bale waiting for his papa to come pick him up for his tractor ride.

Clark Family Reunion

This last weekend the Clark Family Reunion occurred in Cortez, Colo. Friday night we went down to the cultural center to watch the dances. We even got to dance a friendship dance w/ them, it's always a good time.

Snow in June?

After my Mary Kay delivery last week I had lots of packing peanuts to dispose of. Usually I haul them off to the Pak Mail to recycle them, but this time I let Carter play in them first. We made a mound and jumped in them like fallen leaves, we tossed them in the air and let them "snow" down on us. We had a lovely time. When Bryce got home I think he thought we'd been hit by an indoor blizzard- they were EVERYWHERE!

Monday we desperately needed to get out of the house after a weekend of hanging out at home w/ a sick, sad baby. Aparently we forgot that Memorial day has got to be the 2nd largest shopping day of the year! We stopped at Kohls and ended up leaving w/ more Carter clothing.

Nevertheless, these shorts are SWEET! And the shirt has a firetruck on it. Pretty cool!

Carter wants to hold the camera. Unfortunately that usually leads to throwing the camera- and that's a bad thing!
